View Full Version : Human mom to 2 awesome Russian Blues!
vespacat 14th March 2005, 11:53 PM Hi everyone :)
Just found this website a couple of days ago while searching for good cat health pages and am totally amazed there is such a huge community!
This is very cool and I'm looking forward to doing lots of posting and meeting other cat lovers of all *ahem* purrsuasians!
Cheers :)
Jenn (a.k.a. VespaCat)
valanhb 15th March 2005, 12:01 AM Welcome to the site Jenn!
Oh, I'm so jealous!! I just adore Russian Blues. They are SO gorgeous!! I hope we can look forward to some pictures? :D
vespacat 15th March 2005, 12:12 AM Thanks Heidi! Nice to meet you.
Your little ones look very cute! I'll definitely post some pics of Mik and Lex at some point soon... I actually showed Mik for a short time and he did quite well, but he liked the housecat life, so he decided retirement was his best option. :)
As I write this, he is actually asleep on one of his favorite spots... my laptop bag (minus the laptop, obviously!) :)
Cheers,
Jenn, Mik & Lex
maverick_kitten 15th March 2005, 12:42 AM i'm going to have to do an image search for Russian Blue now as everyone keeps saying how pretty they are and i dont know what they look like :(
do you breed or just pet (couldnt think of a better word. lol) :)
vespacat 15th March 2005, 12:53 AM Actually, if you go to www.russianblue.org there are a great many number of RB's to see! And the breeder of my kitties has the best RB in TICA from 2004 (you can see him in the picture).
I thought about breeding at one point, but it's too labour intensive, and just getting my cats to like men in general, and in particular, each time I get a new boyfriend, is difficult enough! My little guys are smart enough to know that men take up *way* too much of my time for their liking. :)
Jenn
maverick_kitten 15th March 2005, 01:12 AM great site. everyone was right, they are so pretty!!
even my cats smart enough to know what to make of men. she thinks my boyfriend takes up too much time, attention and space in the bed: its fun to tease my little brother: my dad is only good for food! lol
babygirl 15th March 2005, 01:58 AM Hi :wavey: and welcome to the site.

vespacat 15th March 2005, 02:10 AM Thanks Tina! Your babies are sweet. :)
I'm looking forward to doing loads of posting in order to get my Top Cat status! Errr, sorry, I think that's my competitive Aries rising coming out! :D
Cheers,
Jenn, Mik & Lex (soon to be avatars in motion *evil laughs*)

How exciting! :D
Cheers,

clixpix 15th March 2005, 07:08 AM Hi Jenn, and welcome to TCS! :wavey:
Russian Blues...lucky you! You can, at kitten level, post pictures (not as attachments). You can upload pictures to online hosting sites like Photobucket, Image Shack, etc. They will give you various url's that you can use for different purposes. You then copy and paste the url that have "img" tag on them in the body of your post, and they show up. In all honesty, I have no idea how...part of that internet "voodoo" that I don't understand. :dk: As long as you keep the pictures on the hosting site, they will show up here. Personally I use Image Shack, they allow an unlimited amount of pictures, and it's free! My signature below is posted that way.
We're a bunch of picture-lovers here, so we eagerly await some of your babies! Again, Welcome!
DawnofSierra 15th March 2005, 07:36 AM Hi, Jenn, Sierra and I welcome you and your babies to TCS!:wavey: So glad you've joined us and look forward to getting to know each of you better! I would be so happy to help you in any way as you learn your way around the site. Please, simply click on my user name and send me a Private Message!:)

CoolCat 15th March 2005, 10:57 PM Hi & welcome to TCS!!!! :wavey:
vespacat 16th March 2005, 02:31 AM Hi Kelly, and thanks for the tips! :)
I'm definitely looking forward to posting... I just have to have the pictures scanned and e-mailed so I can download them to my laptop (the only computer I own!).
Actually, my laptop bag has two purposes... 1. to actually carry the laptop in, and, 2. as a cat bed for my 5 y.o. RB Mik who sleeps on top of it while I'm online! ;) Actually, Mik has to be in the same room as me at all times, including the bathroom! He's a clingy monster kitty!
I look forward to posting some pics very soon, and actually, now that I've joined TCS, it has inspired me to take some current photos of my meowies.
Cheers :)
Jenn, Mik & Lex

Felicia's Mom 17th March 2005, 02:25 AM Hi! I'm glad you joined TCS. : :) One of my cats is a Burmese, but I have always wanted a Russian Blue. :)
vespacat 17th March 2005, 04:46 AM Thanks Nancy - and it's nice to meet you and your kitties. :)
What a cute Burmese Beau is! My best friend is in love with the breed. :)
Looking forward to posting pics of my boys soon...

gemlady 17th March 2005, 03:36 PM Howdy! I see you use RB to refer to Russian Blue. We here at TCS use those letters to indicate Rainbow Bridge when we refer to a cat who is waiting for us there. Usually posted as - my cat Minx (RB). Just to let you know if you see it like that.
katie=^..^= 17th March 2005, 08:32 PM Hi Jenn --
I just responded to a post of yours in the Paws and Reflect Forum. We're all crazy about pictures here so I hope you get some up soon. I've always heard about the mystique of Russian Blues -- do they have very intense green eyes ? -- that's one of the things I heard.
I have a little dsh grey tuxedo and love all grey cats!
batgirl2good 17th March 2005, 11:09 PM Welcome! I have been told that Shenandoah looks as if he has some Russian Blue in him. It is nice to meet you.
Russian Blue 18th March 2005, 12:05 AM I'm hoping to get some photos onto my laptop very soon, so I will definitely keep everyone updated! And I'm looking forward to meeting Nikita, the other RB here on TCS, everyone has been telling me about :D

vespacat 19th March 2005, 08:37 PM Thanks Jan - I appreciate the advice! :)

crazykitten 19th March 2005, 09:24 PM :wavey: hi and welcome to the site my cat is expecting too
vespacat 22nd March 2005, 12:15 AM Hi Katie! :) Gee, you can sure get lost in all these threads! :lol3: I loved your post, thanks! Yes, Lex does this very irresistable rolly kitty move, as he figures that's the best way to get some treats. ;) And though he loves to play fetch at 3am, it's sheer hell to keep him entertained at that hour! :lol3:
I'm hoping to post some pics very soon, so I'll be sure to keep everyone posted. :) And yes, my kitties both have vivid, emerald green eyes - it's part of the breed standard.
Thanks for the introduction! Hi Jenn --

Jalapeno 26th March 2005, 10:03 AM Hello Jenn, welcome to TCS! Hope to see pics of your RB crew soon! They sound like a lovely bunch! :) Isn't it RB's the breed which "smiles"? I think RB, along with British Shorthair, and Bengals are the breeds that I like - they're pretty! But I still think DSH make great friends too! :)
vespacat 27th March 2005, 12:16 PM Thanks for the welcome! :)
Actually, Mik and Lex have a thread called Russian Blue photos on "Fur Pictures Only", so feel free to take a look when you can! :D And yes, it is indeed the Russian Blue that often looks like they're smiling - you can see Lex smiling in the first pic! :lol3:
