Hi all! I've decided to take the plunge and join a cat forum, so I'm Gessie and my kitty is Cosmo, she's about 7 months old. I rescued her from the Colorado Humane Society, along with a brother who didn't survive long :( Cos is a DLH, gray tabby, and was spayed about four days ago. I'm a bit concerned because she's very active and wants to jump and play like she did before the surgery. She's very used to that, as I take a lot of time to play with her because she's an indoor cat and I don't want her to get bored! So I look forward to hearing more from all of you! Bye for now!

Welcome, Gessie & Cosmo! Cosmo sounds like a real cutie! My cats generally romp & play soon after spaying, but that's only my experience. You might post the question in the Health&Nutrition Forum for more feed back. Also, condolences on losing Cosmo's brother - have you checked out the Crossing the Bridge forum? There are some very comforting poems, even if it's been awhile. I look forward to getting to know Cosmo & you better. This website is lots of fun & you'll probably soon discover what "TCS addict" means! ;) Take Care, Susan

hi welcome i think it depends on the cat because i knew a cat that just slept after her surgery and used to be a very hyper cat before hand.

Hi, and welcome. With the spay being 4 days ago I would not be as worried about the jumping and playing, just tell her not to overdo it.

Hi and welcome!!! Can't wait to see pictures.

I had the same problem when Princess was spayed. The vet said to keep her calm. After the first night home she went right back to her energetic self. Her vet said it was OK and that she won't do anything that will hurt her. They were right 9 years later she is fine.
