Hi cat lovers,
I'm Sharlita (20) first time cat owner to two 8 month old ex-feral Siamese kittens (they are sisters). Their names are Kesara (whom is sitting on my lap) and Sparkles whom is in the room with my 2 1/2 year old daughter. I will be adding a ex-shelter/ex-feral kitten to my family by the end of the weekend. She is all black with a small patch of white on her belly w/gold eyes. I got all of my kittens through "Free to good home" post. I wanted to get them before they went to some lab or some home that would not be ideal/good for them.
I found this site through Craig's List and I am glad that I did. As I am really interested in catching ferals and socializing them/finding them good homes. Although I won't fully be able to do all of that until I have my own place. My family are not cat lovers (they are ready for my 2, soon to be 3 babies to leave, lol). But it's never too early to get all of the facts/new information, right?

Sharlita..Welcome to TCS. I would suggest you consider volunteering with Alley Cat Allies which is located in DC:
http://www.alleycat.org/
They have a feral cat spay/neuter clinic out in Centreville every month....December's is this Sunday.
Hi Everyone - Thanks you for taking the time out of your busy holiday
schedules to help the kitties. There's no better gift to give. Please plan to
arrive by 9:15 this Sunday, ready to go, unless we have had a separate
communication about arrival times (for clean up or admitting positions).
If you are running late, please call the clinic. The "backline" phone
number is on the attached Volunteer Guidelines. Also, please plan to
enter the clinic thru the door to the right of the main entrance.
The
clinic address is: 13822A Braddock Road, Centreville, VA 20121. For
door to door directions, I suggest using www.mapquest.com
This is a good way to get involved until you can personally get into socializing ferals.

That sounds great, but I don't drive so I would have no way to get there :( Ahh the downsides to not having a license, lol.
Katie do you have an idea of how much their feral spay/neuter program is? I know some people that I can recommend them too, and I still have to get my 2 ex-ferals spayed.

It's a donation of $20 each...however they only take ferals (not ex ferals) and there is a waiting list at this point. I would suggest you get on the list for the Washington Animal Rescue League..they have free spay/neuter days:

There is also the Petworth Clinic in DC:

You could also volunteer for Metro Ferals:
