View Full Version : Forum relocation to new server

Hello Guys/Gals,

Just to inform you that on Saturday these forums will be disabled for the move to the new server. I'll spare the technologic mumbo jumbo, but it will take between 12-24 hours until most of you will be able to post again.

The new server boosts a much more powerful processor, and 4 times the amount of RAM of the current server which is essential to have a busy forum run smoothly.

Please put your char in an upright position with your hands and feet in front of you and hang on for the ride (well, actually it should be quite smooth ;))

If there are any questions, I would be happy to answer them.

Thanks for your patience,
Thomas Kuehn (In charge of server setup/transfer)

Ummmmm, just one question for you from me (hi again, BTW), what do we do about the shakes, double vision, etc. that come with the withdrawals we may experience?

Hi Thomas, just wanted to say publicly what I have been saying privately- THANK YOU for taking charge of this!

Hi Thomas, thank you for making all this happen. TCS has grown so much in the past little while (we're approaching 7 000 members!) and I hope all goes smoothly for those in the cockpit on Saturday. :)

Well, I should not take all the credit for this, there is also another person, Ross is working behind the scenes*and of course Anne deserves credit as well :D

As for the shakes, double vision - spend some extra time with your cats and that hopefully will settle you a bit. But I promise to keep this forum disabled for the shortest time possible!

I always stayed logged on because I have no idea what my password was, will we have to log on again? :)

I never log in either - what I have done - is saved the main forums page as a favourite - so then whenever I want to log in I just log in through my favourites - no need to remember your password - that may work for you as well.

That's what I do Danielle. Perhaps it will still work then after the change over. Thanks Danielle. :wavey:

The Password is stored on your computer so that should not bother logging in after the move.

The aim is during the afternoon on Saturday. If something goes aweary, then we may have to delay until the evening.

I'm so lazy, I don't even keep it in my favorites anymore, I set it as my home page!

If you cannot sign in after the move, email me and I will get you set up with a new password. Can't do it now, because the email that goes out from the system is only good for 24 hours.

P.S. My contact info is dmoltisa@tampabay.rr.com

Thanks for the heads-up! I'll make sure I get a good fix before I go to bed tonight, then maybe the withdrawal won't be too debilitating :lol3: Who knows, I might even get some OTHER stuff done on the computer on Saturday

Ok, I just got the word, we are moving tonight!

There is a definite lag time in the forums right now, but just be patient, we are not in the position to be able to call our old host and tell them to reboot- it is just part of the process.

If you would like to see the difference in the new server (speedwise) go to www.goldfish-care.com (http://www.goldfish-care.com) and see for yourself.

If you need to get in touch with either me or anne in case something goes astray- the email address is miller478@comcast.net

Here's hoping for a smooth ride all the way around-

The goldfish care page worked about the same speed for me, it's probably just because I'm on dial up.

See you guys on the new server!

oh btw - how did the move with meowhoo.com go???

TAK
26th June 2004, 05:15 PM
For meowhoo.com, all the files and database have been moved. Still need to change around some settings because the database names changed. Should be another 10 hours until the domain has completely propagated.

TCS files have also been moved, database still needs to be done (it is over 600mb). The forum will be disabled soon.
