Emmett is staying with my friend Marueen the weekend of May 15th while I'm in Toronto for Jenn's shower. The only reason I'm not leaving him with my dad is beacsue I worry Emm won't get the attention he needs or the food.
What do I need to remember to bring to Maureen's to make Emm more comfortable and to know I didn't abandon him? What can I do to make the visit for him stress free.
I figure once he gets through the weekend with her, it won't be too much of a shock to spend 4 days there in August when I'm down for the actual wedding.

If Emmett has his own bed take that because it will have his scent on it. Some of his own toys. And i would put something in so he can have your smell as well, such as a t-shirt or a slipper(not saying your feet smell!LOL).
Don't forget a bag of his favourite treats so your friend can win him over!.

Also take an old pair of sneakers, and put them on without wearing socks. Start wearing them as you do housework and exercise and get them really sweaty with your scent. Pop them into a zip-lock bag and leave them with your friend. Have her take one out the day after you leave, and a few days later, give the other one to Emmet. He will smell you and be less stressed, thinking you must be nearby.

I'm sure Maureen will love having my smelly shoes :) Thanks for the tips. I'll make sure everything is prepared before hand so I don't forget anything.

Uh, I think not. Planning for you pet's comfort during an absence is what most responsible pet owners do. And the first time that I have to leave my boys for any amount of time you can bet that I will be using the tips here to make them feel more comfortable where they are staying.
