When I logged on this morning, I thought I was on a new site! I love the layout and that your Private Messages are at the top of the screen. I also like that you can change the Display Mode of the thread.

I will have to go investigate all the other new changes.

I had planned to finish everything much earlier but as luck would have it the VB site crashed right when I was working. So it was either close this place for the day or let you all see the work in progress...

Right now I am still working on the templates, once that's done I will look into all other issues. I've had to switch off the option to choose between styles - I hope this is just temporary.

Okay at the risk of sounding like an idiot, are the picture uploaded suppossed to be links? I just made a thread in the Fur Pictures only forum and attached pictures and all it is showing is links. Of course the links work but I was wondering if I have done something wrong?

I don't think anyone is doing anything wrong. Anne is still chasing the problems and until she is finished there is likely to be all sorts of problems that you encounter. :) Just look at it as we are in the beta stage right now-

Smilies: If you do a "Quick Reply" the smilies aren't there, but you can still put them in if you know the codes. ;) To get all of your smilie choices, hit the "Post Reply" button, which is pretty much the same as it was before.

I just love all these new changes, they're awesome but it will take awhile to get used to them all. And I do have a questions about my pm box. It says I have 1 unread message, I went to my inbox and the last message is several days old so now I'm confused and don't know if I actually have an unread message. It also says I have 2 unconfirmed messages, what are those?
Also, on the reply screen it says "go advanced" what does that mean?

When you view a PM, there are 2 options to click: Forward and Quote. Quote sets up a reply to the original PM.

In the previous interface I was on invisible mode... yet now when I look at the Online list its visible. Now we cannot place ourselves as invisible? :(

First, check your Options. If you are set to invisible, there should be an * next to your name. It indicates that you are invisible to others.

Along the top of any forum page, it says "Open Buddy List". Then you can click and send a PM to them from there. You can also send a PM to multiple recipients now.

And, sadly, the Profile Picture thing seems to be a glitch at the present time.

Oh, you mean in the Quick Links pulldown. Thought I was going nuts, I didn't see it. Seems like if you can't find something, check there first. :)

Oh neat! I just noticed that the font selection has been given more choices...same with colors and sizes.

I just changed the settings so that everyone can add a picture to their profiles. Pictures can be up to 100 pixels wide, 100 pixels high and up to 99KB.

It's looking really good (can't wait to change back to green eyes though) :D

It'll take some getting used to, but looks like there are a lot of improvements. I like that the "report a bad post" button is a little farther away from the "reply" button than it used to be...I came close to hitting it by mistake a few times on the old setup.

WYSIWYG = What You See Is What You Get. :) I think you have to change it in your Control Panel to use it.

Is anyone else having issues with using options like bold, italics, or other options? When you used to choose one of these, a separate little window used to open up to type in. Now I see the code appears directly in the reply window - a good thing - but I don't see it giving the ending vB tag to make the change happen.

For example, when I want bold, I click the Bold link. It gives me the [b], but not the [ /b] part I need at the end to actually make my text bold. I have to supply the ending tag myself.

This could be just a quirk on my end of using an older IE version with Mac OS9.

I have the same thing as you deb, but it shows both tags and I just type in between them.

At least you got the end tag! I think that some people don't understand that you have to type between them, because I saw a few instances yesterday where the tags were in the posts, but the text was after them. It said "undefined" between the tags. I fixed a couple of them that were in people's signatures.

I even got to download a picture of myself as a profile.

Love the profile pic, btw. I kinda wish they would be shown on all the posts. Then you could see the avatar and the person!

I love the versitility of this new program it rocks! Before you had to type in a little box And now, you just click on the symbols!

The photo has to be 100 pixels by 100 pixels any larger it won't accept it. Although mine is under that and it says it is to large so perhaps there is still a glitch?

It's up to 100 by 100 AND up to 97KB. Both limits apply :nod:

Deb, the tag problems, are you having them when you use the quick reply or the regular reply functions (post reply & quote and reply). With the latter two, you should get the WYSIWYG editor (if you have it turned on in your options). With that you shouldn't see any tags whatsoever, you just use it the same way you use MS Word. And you can choose the smilies from a drop-down menu and see them right there in the editor. Very convenient!

True, I just searched for a few things and it came up with the same "No matches found" message...

I don't know if this is a problem with the new layout, but I haven't had it happen before. I was trying to Quote a post and in the post was a URL, and when I tried to write my reply underneath the whole quote, the bit I was trying to reply to, would become a link to the URL, it was mighty stressfull.

Chchchanges doesn't bring up anything because this thread is called Chchchchanges ;)

As for Kiwideus - if you're looking for posts by her you need to use the advanced search function and look for posts made by her. That should work.

Search in child forums means that if you search for example in the lounge and include child forums, it will also search "fur pictures". If you don't include child forums it'll ignore "fur pictures" and only search the lounge.

So I've just discovered. Miss Silver and shades, but VB3 is fine. As long as I have something in basically muted blue tones, I'm ecstatic.

Sam, there is an option to change it in your Control Panel. I think that's probably where you need to change it to keep the color style. :)

YEH for changing the colors. The original colors I didn't like...so I chose the cream colors. :blobgreen

Hmm, the google ads seem to be running amok. On the main page of a forum, i.e. the Lounge, they are HUGE and take a bit of scrolling to get past. Now I also notice that the ads also appear beneath the first post in a thread.

I don't think Anne is done, she has to move them and reduce them, but at midnight her time, she simply ran out of steam. :)

This may sound a little bit off the wall, but I have recently started using voice recognition software for my computer and for some reason the reply and quote options are not available as images or as links in my software.

I don't know if that's something you can fix, but just wanted to let you know.

This is probably because you are a moderator. Usually if a post is deleted moderators can still see it (not the actual post but the deletion message), but normal members cannot.

I agree. I usually adapt ever so slowly and with a great deal of resistance to change, but the more I explore the new features, the more I like it!! For instance, this is the first time I've ever figured out how to quote because it's seems easier now! I've always been a pinky paws, but I kind of like these purples! The pages start from about 1" in from my screen and i have to keep moving my tool bar from left to right to read the postings.

I can't remember having to do this before?. Can anyone help :)

I do have a question. In the past, we have been able to post links as text, for instance you would see Click this link and it would take you to another thread or whatever. Now, when you click the hyperlink box it only allows you to paste or enter the actual link, which is all that shows up in the thread. Am I missing something? Is the old way not available anymore?

What you do is write up whatever it is you want in your post, then highlight the text you want to be the link (Such as Click this link) then click the hyperlink button, paste the link into it and it will automatically make the text you selected into a link.

Or you can do it the old fashioned way and type in the code: [url="link"]Text to be link[ /url] (without the spaces)

Also, question: how do you customize the avatar? I was able to with the old board forums, but I can't seem to figure out with the new board forums. Maybe it's just late and I'm having a __moment...or maybe my question is realistic....hehhe.
