I am going on vacation shortly for 5 days. My friend who was cat sitting just told me she can't do it since she got called away about something. I found another neighbor at the last minute who said yes...IF he didn't have to clean the box. We aren't really close so I don't find that out of line. He doesn't need the money. At first I thought no then I thought about it and it could be ok...I think...


So I was thinking this: I would put out 3 boxes, full of litter and LOTS of newspaper around. And so if he misses the box it won't be a problem. My neighbor did promise to visit with him a bit and I think he will be reliable and nice to my cat, so I am inclined to go with him.

I mean I don't care if I come back to a poopy bathroom. I mean I will just clean it up. But just wondering if that is a good idea or not...

I'd hire a professional cat sitter instead of this guy you barely know. Look in the yellow pages and hire a cat sitter. You can count on them and they will do everything for the cat. They usually have references etc. that you can check on. Another idea is to ask your vet's techs if they'd be willing to do it. I use a cat sitter who(m) I met first and she told me her credentials etc. and I know she's there and is careful, caring and reliable. :)

There is no way I would ask someone to care for my cats while I was away IF they didn't clean the litter pan. I would either hire a cat sitter in my area, but caring for the litter pan is paramount for the health of the cat. You can find cat sitters here at this link- hopefully one is near you.

Thanks, I got another friend to come out. This neighbor guy is still going to come by and play with him so all is good. I do know this neighbor but we aren't what I would call close so I didn't feel he was out of line saying the thing about the not doing the box.

But that is good to know about the litter box and traveling.
