I just noticed in a breeders mailing list that members aren't allowed to publish prices for their kittens. What do you think about that? Do you think we should have a similar rule here?

View Full Version : Kitten Prices Anne 1st November 2000, 10:31 AM I just noticed in a breeders mailing list that members aren't allowed to publish prices for their kittens. What do you think about that? Do you think we should have a similar rule here? ComradeKitties 13th November 2000, 02:36 AM I do not think it wise to post kitten prices as a general rule - different breeds as well as in different parts of the US have varying prices. I know of Siberians breeders selling pets for $400 to as high as $700 just for pets - what is the difference? Do you get any more for the extra money - NO !!!!! Shipping can cost as much as $200 extra including carrier from place A to place B in the US. I think the breeders can talk price to the buyer. I would not want price list in public. Pricing should be at the descretion of the breeder although no pricing should reflect on the health or the kitten. A buyer should never have to pay extra for registration papers. Linda Debby 13th November 2000, 04:10 AM WOW! I cannot begin to imagine people paying such extravagant prices for cats, when there are so many beautiful kittens to adopt for a small fee at the animal shelters!! ComradeKitties 13th November 2000, 05:16 AM I found there are a lopt of folks who will pay this and more for a purebred kitten - I do agree about the shelter cats - I would get calls from folks who just could not afford the prices, I would refer them to the local shelters - with this price for a purebred usually comes a health gaurantee - it takes a lot of money to raise up a litter of kittens.
