I have a kitten that is 1.5 week shy of 5 months. He has gotten the distamper shot with 1 booster. He got sick both times and the vet said it is ok for him to skip the 2nd booster.

He also got the lukemia shot with 1 booster since we will let him go outside at some point.

He hasn't had the rabi shot yet. When is the best time for rabi shot? At the same time as neutering, before, or after? Also when is the best time for neutering a kitten - at 5 months or 6 months?

Thanks!

Most vets will now only innoculate against diseases or infections that cats are susceptible to catch. Typically first vaccinations occur 6-9 weeks of age, with boosters once a month till the kitten reaches 16 weeks. Then the kitten gets the rabies shot.

Neutering is really your vet's call. Some won't do it for 6-8 months, others do it earlier. Call you vet and ask him his protocol on this.
