Currently using feline pine for two cats who share one box. So far, no issues with sharing. And I have to keep it that way since I live in a small one bedroom.

The pine litter works okay but I'm strongly considering switching because I'm tired of my apartment resembling a sawdust mill. Plus, today I read that scoopable litter is preferable because it is more sanitary. Scoopable litter will clump urine whereas with pine litter, it stays in the box and the kitties step on the used litter over and over again. Kinda makes sense to me...

So with that context, what is the best litter that I can transition to? How do I mix non-scoopable litter and clumping litter so my kittens are suitable with the change? And if I go with scoopable, will the tracking be just as bad as the pine litter?

I'm the opposite - we use the wood stove pellets and have no problems with tracking. But just start adding scoopable litter into the pan a little at a time.

Bet you in a few months you will switch back. I don't think I'd ever go back to scoopable litter now.

Golden, why?

Main reason is the cost - 40 lb bag for $5

Second, I just think it cuts down odors even better then the scoopable kind did.

I prefer pellet litter (OzPet which I think is like Feline Pine) I use the sifting trays so they are not stepping in anything the sawdust goes under the tray. There is no tracking, I don't like clumping litter for health reasons and it tracks terribly.

I've never had issues with transitioning litters, just put down the tray and that's it - they all use it.
