I was glad to see the pictures of your cats. I laughed over seeing them in the restaurant. ARe they allowed to ear in the restaurant?? I didn't think that local health laws allowed pets in restaurants. That is interesting to see.
I also want to send your email and pictures to my daughter to see. She will just love seeing them.

GurlPower 18th May 2003, 10:55 PM Lovely, Lori, very lovely indeed!!! :D
i had goose bumps when i looked at your kitty pix. You see, i love the Egyptian culture, and am really fond of sphynx kitties. i can't wait to have a sphynx kitty as well.
The last cat show i went, i took some pix of a sphynx kitty. i spoke to the breeder and she let me hold the sweet little darling. So in love was i, i tell you!! :lovegrin2:
i can't wait to receive your pix. Lori, you can join the Yahoo Sphynx club as well.
Smiles and Cheers! :beerpals:
sphynxmommy2001 19th May 2003, 02:42 AM Hi Shirley,
I missed the picture of Venus stating she is deaf when I looked at your pictures the first time. What a wonderful person you are to take her and work with her into your home. Did you have any problems at first?? And did the cats just work things out themselves around this situation or did you find ways to help them sort through all of this?? I have often wondered what one does to work with a deaf cat. Thanks for sharing!
I had a litter a while back that ended up having a blind Sphynx kitten. AT one time , he was totally blind pe rthe vet. But then he was seeing shadows and to tell you the truth, he adjusted very well. I placed him in a home along with my older breeders. He lives in Rhode Island now. And he is kind of small but still can see so the woman and her daughter say. Funny thing is that he is a white cat almost entirely---a black and white van. He is mostly white with a black skull cap on his head , which makes him a van. If the color , other than the white, started on his head and went down his legs, he would have been a harlequin. Sorry that I don't have any pictures to show you right now.
I love your kitties! I love white kitties , too!
Lori
GurlPower 19th May 2003, 06:25 PM Thanks, Lori for looking at my babies' photo site.
Venus is a God-sent! She is totally sweet, and she is my little angel. :angel2: i adore my precious baby! :heart3:
She was an abandoned kitten, as the owner did not know what to do with a deaf kitty. She was transferred to two rescue homes. After many emails that were circulated to find her a home, i agreed to adopt her. My entire heart went to her the minute i found out she was deaf.
This the pix that was emailed to me before i picked her up:

My VV (VeeVee) (that is what i call her) is active, and likes to play interactive toys. Also, she is fond of playing "fetch." With deaf kitties, the only thing i would watch out for is not to frighten or shock them with "sudden" moves.
Here is a pix of VV with an interactive toy (feathers):

She enjoys bathes and grooming sessions. i bring my babies wherever i go. Venus travels very well, better than Daisy, who prefers sometimes to stay at home. i will bring Venus when i visit Singapore some time in future.
Here is a pix of VV in the cave bed:

The day i picked Venus up, i cried in the car. i was listening to jazz music, and the realization that she could not enjoy the same just broke my heart.
Here is a pix of me feeding VV with chicken baby food. This is her favorite treat:

Blind kitties? Yes, i think it would involve more work. Who knows? One day i will adopt one. :lovegrin2:

sphynxmommy2001 22nd May 2003, 01:06 PM I am glad there are people like you that will take such wonderful kittens and cats.
When do you plan to go to Singapore?
Lori
GurlPower 23rd May 2003, 12:29 AM Goodness, Lori.. with SARS and all, i doubt it will be any time soon.
In San Francisco, they just quarantined someone who has just returned from Singapore, due to Sars or something along that nature... sigh!
i already deferred my travel plans once.
Smiles and Cheers! :beerpals:
sphynxmommy2001 23rd May 2003, 02:46 AM The kittens are due tomorrow. If they are born, I will set up the pictures on the site (hopefully)
GurlPower 23rd May 2003, 05:37 AM Yes, please, Lori, share the kitty pix with us... i am SURE many of us would love to see your sphynx kitties.. i can't wait!!! :hyper:

sphynxmommy2001 26th May 2003, 03:31 PM WEll, here is the reply I never expected to make to you in a million years!! WE have had our kittens! But the real shocker is that the female got mated by a furred cat. So, now I have 6 little furred kittens.
I don't have to pay the stud fee now though. LOL But I also have 6 kittens to place. And I am not one to let cats breed easily because there are so many unwanted ones. I am rather sad about all of this. But Life will go on! WE will find them a home! And I am still in shock!

Mom of 10 Cats 26th May 2003, 09:51 PM Oops! ;) Sounds like that was a heck of a surprise! How are the kittens doing, and the momcat?
sphynxmommy2001 26th May 2003, 10:36 PM Mom and babies are fine. WE haven't had to supplement feed much excpet the runt (as usual). But that hasn't been much as he is doing fine also. Thanks for asking.
You are the one to be commended with 13 cats. WOw! Congratulations!!!
I tried to attach a picture that was too big. WEll, I re-adjusted all the picture stuff through Photo Editor and saved them. They say they are still too big.
I will try to attach another picture later.

Mom of 10 Cats 26th May 2003, 10:48 PM Looking forward to the pictures! Would be so cool if they had the Sphynx build (especially the EARS) with fur. That would be sooooo cute! I love sphynx ears! ;)
GurlPower 27th May 2003, 01:31 PM Lori, thanks for keeping us updated.
i know how you feel - the last cat show i attended, i spoke to two Sphynx breeders. i understand it is important for show quality sphynx kitties to be absolutely hairless (even on the tail area).
i am glad the kitties are healthy and fine. Kisses  for the new furbabies! Kittens are the most adorable and innocent -- i find them so irresistible! :lovegrin2:
Cheers! :beerpals:
sphynxmommy2001 28th May 2003, 02:14 PM I am still in shock concerning the kittens. But these kittens become F1 kittens. That means they could be used to make another line of Sphynx in the future. When one breeds the F1 with a sphynx, those kittens become F2's and so forth until F4's. Then you have a new line of Sphynx. The domestic cat has strentghened the lines.
