I can trim Chloe's claws pretty easily...if she's not sleepy, usually scruffing her works. I started trying to get her used to the whole thing as a kitten and I think that helped.

With Henry, it's impossible. I've tried waiting until he sleeps (the guy never sleeps!), scruffing, wrapping him in a towel, etc. Nothing helps. I have those trimmers that look like little scissors.

Any special tricks? Would a little file help instead of cutting them?

Files take too long and probably would not work. I had a Turkish Angora who hated his nails done. I'm good with clipping nails and had to do his over a few days (a foot or two a day) to get them done.

I would just be firm with him and do one foot a day till he's more cooperative.

If you give him a treat immediately after you trim a paw (or a claw or two, if trimming a whole paw is too difficult right now!), he'll probably get the idea fairly quickly. He may well learn to tolerate it, although he'll probably never love it!

hmm, have you tried having someone hold him while you clip?

We had one cat that was so bad, we'd have to wrap her in a towel, with her head covered, and have my fiance hold her as I cut.

But I don't know if this would be too invasive for her? Because you wouldnt' want to traumatize her more! Just a thought

Good luck, and let us know if anything has worked!:heart3:
