The media is overlooking the fact that overseas contractors, who are spending BILLIONS in Iraq & Afghanistan are exempt from investigation for financial fraud & abuse:

When I see important stories like these get overlooked because of the hoopla over elections and American Idol gossip, it makes me feel like the American people are acting like the bored casino dealers in the "Smart Lady" joke: the extremely attractive lady places a bet in craps, then disrobes while claiming that being in the nude brings her luck; she rolls the dice, jumps in elation & screams, I WON, I WON, then grabs her winnings & clothes & runs away. One dealer asks the other, "What did she roll anyway?" and the other one says, "What - don't you know?? I was too busy watching HER!"

Without knowing what the actual charges are, I will say this: I think of the days that I use to go to events in Detroit and have to pay the homeless guy $20 by the parking lot to make sure my car was still there when I got back (in addition to the $10 I paid at the gate). Perhaps these "bribes" wind up assuring the safety or life of the U.S. contractor while abroad. Seriously...if you were a contractor in one of those two countries and heard that the local radical group has decided that it will seek and hunt out every U.S. Citizen and kill them, ummm...wouldn't you want to shell out a little more money to make sure no one tattles?

i was offered a job with a overseas company in Iraq.
120,000 for 6 months. if you want people to go, you gotta pay them.
however i am sure there is a ton of wasted money. Being spent on over priced hammers, and 500 dollars for a roll of toiliet paper tec.

however between my back, and the wife going nuts. i turned it down :(

I wouldn't do it because I would have to rely on someone else to protect me. That and I don't have a single civilian skill that would be useful over there other than driving a truck. My bad back would rule me out anyway.
