Good I'm glad he's being prosected for this - that's just plain mean and hateful. There are other ways to chase off a hawk!

How crazy, over a golf game? The guy must have been bad if he was distracted so easily, glad he was punished.

I've done hundreds of miles of canoing and kayaking on wild rivers, and know a wee bit about Hawks. If it was that close to people and not wanting to leave, that means that they were close to it's nest. I hope that they throw the book at this cowardly slimeball....or a few buckets of golf balls...and the buckets.

Thats one part I actually don't know. Do Hawks have chicks this time of year? Seems to me they have a mating season. I'll try looking that up.

It's not quite mating season yet. Although there won't be any chicks, she (or he) was no doubt just waiting for the humans to leave so she could continue repairing the nest for the upcoming season. She was simply where she was supposed to be this time of year, doing exactly what she was supposed to be doing. :(

Red-shouldered hawks breed once per year between April and July, with peak activity occurring between early April and mid June. They often use the same nest from year to year, refurbishing it each spring. Both the male and female build or refurbish the nest, which is large and deep, constructed from sticks, twigs, shredded bark, leaves and green sprigs.

Being that it's in Florida, they could be mating..our warm weather starts alot earlier here. We have osprey that paired up near our shop weeks ago, like they do at this one nest pole every year, but I'm not sure if anyone has been sitting on eggs yet or not.
The guy is a jerk. I'm not a fan of golf but if I would have been there, I would have raised a stink about it. I'm glad he is being prosecuted & is getting bashed nationwide.
