I'm not sure if this goes here, so please feel free to move it to the most appropriate forum.

My Bickford is 23 lbs (we're trying to get him down to 18) and has a carrier that weighs a ton. I'm having trouble lifting it when I have to take him to the vets, which has been frequently lately. Can anyone recommend a stroller that would accomodate a large cat? Preferably one that detaches so I can put him safely into the car. Thanks in advance - Maureen

Thanks - I found a similar one from Dr. Smith & Foster on sale! The only problem is I have to wait a week. The ones at Petco (in store at least) either weren't big enough or didn't detach.

I bought a cat stroller recently. It is called "Pet Gear Travel System Pet Stroller"." They say it fits pets up to 15 pounds but I really loaded it down with stuff when I went to a cat show recently and it worked fine... I also loaded it when I went to the vet last week, I was bringing two cats so I stacked my Sherpa bag on top of the stroller's carrier (fit perfectly) and it worked well. I really like this stroller! It has a detachable carrier section with removable handles that can be used as a carrier and also used in the car, with a strap at the back that you can put the seatbelt through. The stroller part is very smooth-ride and easy to push. Both the carrier part and the base/stroller fold flat for storage. I got mine on Ebay for about $40 with free shipping, they usually cost about $100. They also have a "deluxe" version at Foster and Smith for a little bit more.
The reason I chose this stroller was because of the folding ability, the mesh windows to allow the cat to see out but still be sort of "private" since they are black mesh, and also the height of the carrier. The main thing I don't like about the "Kittywalk" type strollers is the carrier is so low to the ground, making it a perfect height for the cat to be noticed by any passing dogs, (or children) which could scare the cat.

I used the new stroller tonight. Bob was less stressed out than usual going to the vets. He hid out in the covered part most of the time. Tomorrow it's Bickford's turn. Nekochan I saw your pictures on the other thread - it looks like a great carrier for your needs. Since I'm only using it to transport to the vets and not for strolling as much I'm not that concerned about it being low. My biggest concern was getting something that Bickford (23 lbs right now) can fit in comfortably.
