I heard that story on the radio this morning - *amazing* that the kitten survived such a long time! Poor baby, what an awful place to be lost.
There have been stories for a long time about colonies of cats who live in the subways. I can't imagine how they're able to survive...

Trust me, there are lots of juicy rats to eat there.

Yeah and some of them were/are probably bigger than the kitten! :lol3:
She must have found garbage or maybe smaller mice to eat. Anyway, she's home safe and sound!

Trust me, there are lots of juicy rats to eat there. That's what I was thinking! There are probably a lot of mice and insects, too.

Yes, and unfortunately, as AddieBee has said, most were probably larger than the kitten. She's very lucky they didn't make a meal out of her.
This was one tough little girl. It would have been difficult for her to survive even as a full grown cat. The subway is an extremely inhospitable place - it's freezing in the winter, pitch black between stations and incredibly dangerous for a cat. The noise from the trains is deafening and must have been terrifying to her, even painful with her keen sense of hearing. Kittens need more calories than adult cats, so she had to find several meals each day. She was probably always hungry. I don't know how she kept herself warm - NY has had many below-freezing days in the last month.
For a pampered house kitten, being lost in the subway would be a death sentence. It's a miracle that she survived.
