If things are going that bad then just off yourself, don't take it out on innocent people and their families.

May the victims RIP.

maybe if the media would stop spending hours talking about the shooter, people would not think they will get to be famous.

Forget the shooter, if they want to talk about something, Talk about the lives that where taken away.

I suppose you're right. On the other hand, when our first real school shooting happened last November, I at least felt the need to know everything possible about the shooter and his motives to be able to rationalize and understand why. I believe many people feel the same. It's a difficult issue.

The university police chief is saying the shooter was "off his meds".

I've been reading updates on Yahoo all day. This is so sad. It seems in the past year there have been a lot of school shootings. The sad thing is that this guy owned guns legally. It's so hard to try and guess who would do these things! I read he was off his meds, even though they haven't released what those meds were. It kind of makes me nervous to go anywhere in public anymore - people are getting shot at school, at the malls, in parking lots... *sigh* This is so sad. I hope the families of all of the victims find some peace with their loss.

This one hits a little close to home as Dekalb is Earl's hometown. He knows the cops working the case (they were patrolmen when he lived there, now are detectives).

Such a sad story, but now college campuses are "not safe".. Whatever. Now people want college students to be armed!!!! Now THAT is crazy!!!!

I agree! Arming college students? Will fire arms safety be a requirement for entering into college then? Sure...why not take a bunch of youngsters leaving home for the first time and hand them a gun...

How about bullet proof vests? I'd rather wear one of those than carry a gun...

they are talking about people that in states that already have permits to carry.
bullet vest is not going to stop you from getting killed, depending on where you are hit, or what type of bullets he has.

lol i forget i have mine on me alot, and carry into places i am not suppoed to have it, just get used to it being there.

or just not worth the effort to remove it,to go in some place for 4 min

It appears that the shooter had a history of psychological problems: http://washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080217/NATION/581694692/0/FOREIGN&template=nextpage

I finally just got ahold of the last few friends I have at NIU...everyone is, thanfully, fine.

So sad. And what's even sadder is the predicted presence of the WBC at these kids' funerals.
