View Full Version : Ever heard of this? Brandi 24th December 2007, 05:29 AM http://www.catgenie.com/ I think it sounds pretty awesome!! What do you think? Iluvdevons 24th December 2007, 07:25 PM I'm of two minds on this. It's awesome that there would be no need for litter, :woohoo: but I would be concerned about the automatic setting, as it is important to see pee and poops for assessing your cat's health. Brandi 25th December 2007, 11:29 PM yeah thats what I was thinking..this is gonna sound gross but I check my guys once a week to make sure everything "looks" good DogDogCatCatCat 27th December 2007, 03:37 PM the concept is interesting, but there's no way I'd spend that much, and THEN have to have the thing plumbed in my house (plus there's no room in my bathroom for such a thing). I use 2 plain old Rubbermaid litter boxes and the smartscoop self-scooping box. I'm not cleaning the boxes nearly as often! BuzbyJLC10 29th December 2007, 03:04 AM Yeah, I've seen that before... Oliver would never get in that! Haha And I'd never spend the money on it... I just think any kind of automatic box would scare him off, even though it's timed to wait so long before moving or whatever - plus he's 15 pounds and is a digger, so it might not be big enough for him... and I agree that I like cleaning the boxes to make sure everything's "normal" with Ollie... it's hard enough with 1 cat and 2 boxes when my mom sometimes cleans the boxes and obviously sh'es not takin a count of what's in there haha (she has a very sensitive nose, so sometimes she's just gotta clean them out)... Ollie's just got boxes from walmart, but I did just splurge on the kitty washroom cabinet box cover for the box in my room, but even though it's his bday present, it was more for me than him haha Jaffacake 1st January 2008, 01:38 AM I`m not keen. Looks like there is alot that could go wrong with it and that`s gotta be expensive. It puts me off that it flushes the #1 and #2's as well. There was a programme here in the summer where they were doing special reports from a sea life centre in California ( I think ) where they rescued a lot of seals. They said that alot of the seals were getting some disease ( Can`t remember what it was now ) and that cats are carriers of the disease and it is being passed on to the seals because people have started flushing their cat litter/business down the toilet! catcaregiver 2nd January 2008, 04:34 PM There was a programme here in the summer where they were doing special reports from a sea life centre in California ( I think ) where they rescued a lot of seals. I think it was actually sea otters and the parasite is Toxoplasma gondii. According to some articles I read, this may also be causing deaths of whales, dolphins and porpoises along Britain's coast. |
