Okay, my girl has a tattoo in her right ear of an S. The shelter (SPCA) where I got her from tattoos the cats so they know if they have been there or not. I will get pics of it tonight. . . any one elses kitties have tattoos??? :lol3:

I've never seen a tattooed kitty.. I see tattooed dogs at work though often enough. I'm not sure if theirs are just ID or what though..

I've heard of tattooed kitties, but I don't think it's done much in the US anymore. I think it was done if they were spayed/neutered or something.

SPCA tattoos their cats... My Maneki Neko has one in his ear...

Some breeder will also tattoo their dogs. (I dont know the purpose of it) It seems to mostly be dogs who are flown in from other countries. Normally on their inner thigh area....

It probably means Spayed. Over here they use 'D' for de-sexed in one ear and 'M', microchipped in the other.

All my sisters cats and dogs have tattoos, you can ask for the vet not to do the tattoo if you want.
