I would like to use something environmentally friendly, but I am not having any luck finding one that works!

The few I have tried do not keep the smell away. A couple were not better than using shredded newspaper. Does anyone use one that really does work?

We use pine litter pellets and love it...

I've used world's best cat litter and papurr...of the two, WBCL works the best. Feline pine scoop also has a mild pine odor, so should be good on odor control, but I haven't used it by itself, so I can't vouch for it.

save yourself a ton of $$ and try wood pellets or wood animal bedding from the feed store... 3-4$ for 40 lbs

Next time we go get Keno's dog food, I'll check with the feed store and see if they have them :) Thanks.

Nature's Miracle litter has great reviews, it's corn-based and it clumps (and you can flush it). I have a bag but I haven't used it yet.

Check out at the feed store a chicken feed called "poultry crumbles. It should come in a 50# bag for about $10. It seems to work pretty well. Doesn't clump quite as well but still easy to scoup litter boxes

After we move (or before if apartment hunting takes longer than planned) we're going to try World's Best Cat Litter, and I'm going to retry Feline Pine Scoop in another box since I got a coupon from Target today. I don't think I transitioned the Feline Pine Scoop properly the last time we tried it. I was very happy with the lack of dust from Feline Pine Scoop so I'd really like to make it work.

I've been cleaning the apartment all week and the layer of kitty litter dust on EVERYTHING is so gross. And Raven has been really sneezy.:(

We use The World's Best Cat Litter. It works really well for us. Being that we have 10 cats (currently), we needed something that will keep the smell down, and not a lot of tracking. This has done the job . . .

right now I'm doing a little self experiment between WBCL and feline pine scoopable.
I just did the big switch 2 days ago, and already for odor control I like the feline pine better. I didn't notice any smell until the very end of the month (of course with regular scooping) where as the WBCL (multicat) doesn't cover the innital bathrooming smell as well.
Mind you, the FPS does track a whole lot, and the WBCL does have less dust.

So far though I think I'll end up going back to the FP and doing some serious research on littermats.

I have tried:

Swheat Scoop - terrible odor control and rather dusty

Feline Pine - Loved the smell, lack of dust, but Marcie hated digging in it and would not bury her poo

Disney Aristocats Pine Crumbles - It was pretty good but tracked everywhere

WBCL - Like the smell, the lack of dust and the lack of tracking (and whatever does get out on to the floor, Darcy eats before I can sweep it up :nausea: :barf: :lol3:)

World's Best did a poor job of covering the odor until about 5-10 minutes had passed, it doesn't clump as well as clay, and the smell when scooping is pretty strong. We tried some Arm & Hammer stuff and scooping turned from "hold your breath, I'm gagging" to "that's an odd smell, but not bad." It was enough to convince us that World's Best wasn't the stuff for us, since it was just as dusty as the clay stuff we switched to.

I use wood pellets with the Feline Pine litter box. I love it, and I spend less than $1 a month on litter. I've never cleaned the box except to dump the used sawdust once a week. So easy, and so cheap. She very rarely buries her waste, but I don't care about that.

This post really surprised me. We have two cats and 2 boxes which are in our bedroom. We scoop daily - no odour and especially no dust.

I will not use clay with young kittens as they can breathe in the dust which will then attract moisture from their bodies and can clump in their bodies requiring surgery (if caught and diagnosed) or death (if not caught and diagnosed). I purchase WBCL myself and donated it to the shelter where I volunteer strictly for use in the kitten rooms. Shortly after that, the shelter started buying WCBL and Swheat Scoop for the overflow room to keep the odour down since the clay litter they were using did little to nothing for keeping the odour down.

I keep our litter next to my dresser and WBCL is the only litter that doesn't leave a film of dust on my dresser.

Yeah, that's what we had read about it but not what we ran into in practice. Not sure if it was simply Juniper being stinky, or if his incessant digging caused more dust.

He was in the habit of making a pile, doing his business, then recovering everything again. He'd often come out of the litter box with some yellow corn dust on his head, and the odor control, while fine when the box wasn't being disturbed, didn't seem to do anything when we were actually cleaning it. I was tempted to set up a bandana or gasmask near the box so we could do it without complaining.

Juniper was also really sneezy when we used it. After we switched his sneezing stopped. Maybe we got a bad bag, but it didn't impress me.
