Hello,

Quick question. I think this is the correct forum for this. If not please move to the correct one. I have a tree (Bradford pear tree) that part of it fell off in a storm last night. I have 2 or 3 really nice pieces about 4-5 feet long. Is it ok to use the pieces for scratching posts? Bark and all? I know I need to let it season for a few months.

I have no experience with this, but I would think that it would be ok as long as there:
-were no splinters to stick in the cat.
- was not any pesticide, etc. sprayed on the tree.

You can try a piece. Some cats like natural tree branches, some don't. I think I'd debark the piece and make sure its free of insects. That's probably the worse concern of bringing in natural trees - the hidden insects in them!
