I was going to wait until my Braxton got neutered to get chipped, but his other nut is taking quite a while to pop out :lol3: and the vet doesn't want to do it until they're both out. However, we are going to be moving this weekend to a big city, and I don't want anything to happen to my baby poopooface! Is getting chipped fast and easy, and something that I can just bring him in to do and take him right home?

Thanks =)

Yes, it takes longer to fill out the paperwork than it does to put in the chip.

It's very fast, only a few seconds. None of my pets noticed when it was done.

Takes just as long as any of their usual vaccinations - basically 2 seconds... Oliver didn't even make a peep.

I will warn you that it is a decent sized needle that looks scary, but they really don't notice it and it's in and out very quickly... just didn't want you to be shocked - my vet did it right in front of me: I don't know if that's usual procedure or if they usually take them in the back but I'm good friends with my vet and she knows I have animal experience (I used to work with her and at a shelter)... I'm glad I got Ollie chipped, just a little extra assurance :clap:

I wonder...what does that cost to have done? Do the vets give you a deal on more than 1 cat? (Just kidding) I got a deal for 1/2 price to get my ears pierced when my daughter got hers done! :lol3:

My vet charges $35 and the company she uses (Home Again) I believe charges $17 to register the chip. You can also check with Humane Societys'/shelters. One near me regularly charges $20 with no registration fee.

My vet charges $40 (I think...)

And I really hope you got your ears pierced with a needle... but don't get me started on that :lol3:

Oh heck yea, it's so fast.. I took longer to fill out the paperwork.. They literally stick a needle into the spot, and push the syringe down and chip is in..

Simple as that..
