View Full Version : Just sharing a cool product

Recently this product arrived at my home. I love this window perch as it is a free standing perch that attaches to your window by heavy duty suction cups. Because of the unique material they use for the actual hammock (no faux fur or sheepskin) my cats are fighting for placement in this really hot weather. The textilene fabric must feel really cool against their skin. Check it out!
I am not affliated with this website at all. I just really am impressed not only with the product and its great usability, but the people behind it and their intense love and understanding of cats.
whiskerynature 2nd August 2007, 09:35 PM So, this is sturdy?
Looks like a great idea, but I'm always skeptical about suction cup items -- for example, those shower caddies or toothbrush holders -- I can never get them to stay up .
I'm thinking if both cats try to get into at once, then that'd exceed the 20lbs and then...angry tumbling down cats?! :lol3: Curious to hear people's reviews on this :)
hissy 3rd August 2007, 01:37 AM I have a 22 pound cat. Cleaning the window and the suction cups with rubbing alcohol, I had no problem when I did that, with cats sliding down the window.
mrjonah 3rd August 2007, 09:55 PM The cat in the picture sure looks happy!;)
Momofmany 4th August 2007, 12:19 AM I have to ask if there was a warning about the window you select to hang it on. Three houses ago and many years ago, one of my cats jumped onto a window ledge during a chase game and shattered the window. Turns out the window was old and brittle. If I would hang one of those on that window, it would have broken it.
(The cat limped for life, but was generally fine after she went thru surgery to reattach the ligaments in her back legs).
It looks like an awesome product, but I would only suggest hanging it on heavy glass like you would find on a sliding door.
coaster 15th August 2007, 05:02 AM Modern windows are made of tempered glass, so there shouldn't be a risk of shattering on impact. That sure looks like a neat product, and simple. The only drawback I can see is that it's not too practical for use on a double-hung window that you like to be able to open and close for ventilation purposes. Unless maybe the kitty likes to go up and down. ;):lol3:
teetee 15th August 2007, 05:50 AM I am so glad I accidentally clicked on the link to this thread from the front page. I LOVE that kitty cot. Thank you for saying that it's cool on their skin because Teddy's favorite napping spots are the bathrom sink and stone floor...I think because his fur makes so hot he enjoys the cool surfaces. I hope he likes his new bed!
I love finding cool, useful kitty products. I already have a fashionable, yet functional carrier and an innovative automatic litter box. Feel free to PM me if anyone is interested in links.
Thanks for posting this, Hissy!
Bonnie1965 15th August 2007, 05:51 AM What a great idea!
Lore 15th August 2007, 08:33 PM VERY COOL! ... for a 1 cat household probaby. Get 2 or *eep* 3 kitties snuggling in that bed, I fear it'd be sliding or *popping* off the Window :(
It is a GREAT looking Product tho  get's cats up abit higher, the way they like, unlike those other cat ledge beds, that do ancor to the wall.
hissy 15th August 2007, 09:43 PM Yes, it does come with a warning about hanging it properly on double-paned glass. It also comes with a list of sometimes humorous uses for it as well- Pretty clever actually, and what I like the most about it, is so far the material is still together and it can be moved so easily so the kitties can see different parts of the world outside.
TSW 17th August 2007, 08:03 PM I just bought a similar piece from a friend of mine (shameless promotion of his products, i know, but through all my 17 years of cat ownership not a single cat furniture item has ever gotten me excited until now, and this just happens to be a friend's business) and my stubborn, dyed-in-the-wool cat took to it almost immediately.
check out his website.

I also own the item called "the basket." It's quite sturdy. My cat scratches mostly on one side and on top. He also sleeps on top, too.
This stuff is carefully-made and looks great. It's the first piece (or pieces) of cat furniture I've ever seen that doesn't look cheap. It's not your typical wood base, a few two-by-fours all wrapped in carpet. It's aesthetically pleasing--A real triumph in the world of cat furniture.
Bonnie1965 17th August 2007, 08:33 PM Great designs and beautiful cats! Welcome from another Portlander :)
twstychik 17th August 2007, 08:40 PM What a cool window seat. I have one of those that sits on the sill but it doesn't work with the windows in our apartment. Those would work anywhere providing the glass is ok to suction to.

Thanks! Yea, all those pictured are his cats. He's got 5 of them! They're a great focus group for all his new designs. His work is in a few pet stores around town, too. One in the pearl district and one up on broadway NE.
