My cat's front side smells worse than his little butt. He has a major case of bad breath and doesnt seem to care much for his dental treats i buy. What do you guys do to help control their funky breath?

Yesterday I bought 2 toothbrushes (the rubber kind that go on your finger) and some cat toothpaste - I'm going to try that. Wish me luck.

Hmmm....I would suggest having a vet look in your kitties mouth. You never know....it could be a digestive thing, rotten teeth, an abcess, etc. :)

He is currently on Vet Nutritional Science Complete / Adult Cat food. With the vitamins and stuff. I give him half a can of frisky feast every night. Thats it. I dont even let him look at people food.

Bad breath can be a sign of tooth decay. I would suggest you take him for a dental exam.
Since you're feeding him adult food, it sounds like he is too old to be losing baby teeth? That can also cause a temporary halitosis.

When I first got my Stan he stunk. His breath was especially foul. Turns out he had a sore on his tongue. Antibiotics cleared it up and his breath greatly improved.

When i got him (about two weeks ago) he smelled bad too. From the start, his fur was a little musty but that is to be expected from an adoption clinic. To make things worse, on the way home, he got scared and had an accident in his little box. Well, he didnt have much room to sit down in side of there and you can use your imagination on the rest. I went to the store and bought some Antibacterial Kitty Wipes and scrubbed him down pretty well...

Over the course of a week, he began licking himself clean and the following week his fur no longer smelled and was not dirty. His breath did not change however. It actually may be getting worse. I will schedule a vet appointment right away. I think that i still have a free checkup from the clinic. =)

Then I would go asap (especially if it's free :) ) Stan is mostly better after the medicine ran it's course. He does, of course, still get the occasional cat-food breath, but we are none of us perfect :lol3:

Good luck, and be sure to share with us over in the fur picts forum!
