I am wondering if anyone has used those upholstry sprays that "neutrilize" cat dander (such as "Allersearch ADS" or "AllerSafe Dustroy") or the carpet powder stuff claiming the same? These products sound "too good to be true", but I am very tempted to try them.

My husband and I recently moved "back home" and I FINALLY (after 5 years) live in the same town as one of my best friends. The problem is, she is allergic to cats (we have two) and refuses to come over to our apartment. The one time she did come over, she complained the whole time. It is a big issue for me that my friend will not come over. Especially since I am very diligent with my house cleaning, vacuum (with a HEPA filter) every other day, and we brush our cats daily. So, I am trying to find more ways so that she will come over.

Additionally, I am planning on investing in an air cleaner. I have done a lot of "looking" and have pretty much decided on the Austin Air Healthmate. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I have no idea about the new products.

I have been interested in them because I am in the same situation. I have a friend who will not come over to my house either. The last time she was here her eyes were red and swollen in about 15 minutes, so she will not come back.

If these work I would really like to know!!!

take an antihistamine before coming over. Bathing your cats will help as it isn't the hair but the skin cells (dander)that people are allergic to. Some poeple are so allergic that even touching something that came into contact with a cat will cause their skin to swell. If your friends are extremely allergic it may be better for them to not come over, as it could take days or even weeks to recover from the attack. Sorry this is not a cure but I hope it sheds some light on the other side!
