I'm wondering what brand and type you use? My co-worker and I were talking about cheaper alternatives to using regular cat litter (and I use clumping, which I'd rather not) because right now I'm spending at minimum $70CDN a month on litter :rolleyes: it happens to be a little more than I'm looking to spend lol. I've got 2 chubby kitties, and my co-worker mentioned that her barn cats really enjoy eating the horse feed (when the horses let them anyways) and said that since my cats are switching from a free-fed dry to smaller meals they may try eating the chn feed that I put in their boxes (ew). Has anybody ever had that problem? Plus, there seems to be a lot of hormones in the different feeds around here, so I'd like to find something that's guaranteed hormone free. Any suggestions?

If you can get the organic... but it is like 20$ us for 50lbs vs 7-11$ for 50lb s of Layennna which is purina and natural .... 50lbs is 3-5 weeks for my two one of whom has CRF so she pees alot... In a pinch I will use Nutrena

I also use the Purina Layenna because I prefer the finer grind it has. I've used an off brand in the past, (it also had no antibiotics, etc.), but the grind was more pellet like which I didn't like as much. :)

So Purina layenna is good? Do you guys mix with other litter, or did they take/change over fairly easy? And how often do you change the feed in the boxes? I've got 5 cats, and 3 normal (large) boxes and 2 big rubbermaid storage buckets (huge lol) I don't want the feed to go rank in the boxes.
