I just did a search on the lion cut, and the general opinion is to take kitty to the groomer, especially if it is the first time. If you want to do it yourself later, ask the groomer if you can watch and get some tips. Trimming kitties can be tricky business, and they can wiggle right into the scissors/shaver and get a nasty gash. Better to pay a groomer a little than the vet a lot. :)

Yeh, my grandma's kitty has to get the lion cut. I'd suggest going to a groomer.
