This will sound strange....

How do I get petroleum jelly out of my cats fur? I've bathed her twice already, once with shampoo and once with Sunlight dish soap. She smells great but her fur is still kind of oily.

Any ideas?

(Its a long story how she came to have it in her fur)

Maybe rubbing alcohol? You could try to put it on the spot and comb it out, or maybe rub the spot with alcohol on a cloth. I'd just make sure to wash her (again) so she doesn't ingest the alcohol.

Well, she's looking a little better now. That got a good portion of the petroleum jelly out. Her fur still has a bit of a different feel there but its much better. thanks!

One trick to oily anything on the coat, is to use the GOOP hand cleaner. You just put it on and let it site for a few minutes, rinse it out and then shampoo them. I also found that Dawn is the best to remove oils.

You can also use Crisco shortening, the lard, not the oil. :) Then once it dries it all combs out.

thats a strange idea! I shall wash her one more time before she is off to the vet. hopefully it will finally all come out so they don't think I let her run around a mess! She is getting fixed this friday.
