We are having the inside of the house painted this week. The painters are professionals and good friends. When they came over yesterday, they told my wife to let the cats alone as they will sniff the paint and then leave it. Slugger did just that, but the Professor sniffed and then stepped in the paint tray. He got a little spooked and left pink paw marks around the house (my young daughter's color choice for her room) while my wife chased him down. She got him cleaned up as best as she could. What is left is a small residue streak on his leg (which sort of looks like there was candle wax on his leg), a spot on his chest, and some on his ear. Any concerns here with the residue? The paint is regular indoor latex.

I would personally try to get as much off as humanly possible. You don't want the Professor to be ingesting it even though it is water based.

I would suggest keeping the cats in a room with food, water and litter for the times where the decorating is being done. That way, when they come out, the paint should be dry to the touch and there will be no painting equipment lying around for nosy kitties to investigate! :)

I hope you don't have any further kitty decorating mishaps! :)
