View Full Version : Alright! I'm kicking the Feline Pine to the curb! What next!?
SarahBeez 21st November 2006, 12:26 AM I just can't get into the Feline Pine... we seem to go through it way more than what everyone says is normal, I have the hardest time trying to scoop it, and Chad doesn't think it works good on the smell (it's not that bad but you can definetely tell we have cats some times, even with daily scooping!)
What should I try next???
We were using a clumping litter, then switched to FP.... what else is out there?!
missymotus 21st November 2006, 03:57 AM I liked Worlds Best, the cats didn't agree though so I just went back to regular clumping litter.
iamluckysmom 21st November 2006, 04:42 AM With my cats, and I have had 6 now. Most cats like sand. It's soft and fun on their feet and it doesn't hurt their paws, good scoopable cat litter will not dust up everywhere and lats a good time. Scoop Away. Now if your cat is like mine they do like to get in there and spread their paws and throw it like confetti, but that is my cats and they like the way I get all pissy and moany when I sweep it up. I am their slave you know.....
Seriously, Scoop Away is dollar for dollar a good value and cats like it.
And don't buy those stupid cardboard corregated bs scratching things. They are the biggest mess in the world. I would rather they tear up the couch then pick up that crap.
ClaireBear 21st November 2006, 04:46 AM Has anyone tried yesterday's news? I use it with my ferrets and it works wonders on the smell, plus it doesn't get stuck in thier paws and track everywhere. Right now I'm using the clumping litter with my kitten, but I think I'm going to switch him to yesterday's news too.
Sylorna 21st November 2006, 03:29 PM I'm using yesterdays news for the kittens at the moment (incase they try to eat it). It seems ok at covering the smell. I prefer Worlds Best litter, or something similar that clumps and is made from corn so is flushable. For me the clumping and dust are the big issues.
SO if they're adult cats, Worlds best is good. If you're Canadian, Presidents choice makes something similar. If you don't mind non clumping, but want low tracking Yesterdays News is also good.

We like the scratchers at my house!!! I assume we're talking about the same thing- but I haven't noticed them getting all scratched into pieces. Maybe you could try flipping it over or getting a new refill sooner. I haven't done that to either of ours but our older one is getting a little ratty looking & I can see that I'll need to do that soon. Maybe you are letting them scratch it for too long? :dk:

We used Yesterdays News a loooooooong time ago when I lived with my parents- we got our two cats declawed and used that so they didn't get anything stuck in their paws. I haven't used it since though.
Well I am going to Petsmart for a whole car load of stuff- time to stock up! I'll check into Yesterdays News, Scoop Away, and the Worlds Best (I checked and it's sold in a lot of places around me!! :bigthumb: ) and I think I have noticed a lot of posts by people that use Fresh Step (? I think that's what it was?) I'll just bring my calculator with me and see what works out to be the best deal! My main concern is everything :lol3:- price, how long it lasts, how well it clumps (I HATE non-clumping!), and smells!
By the way- Maui is an adult now and the kits are 16 weeks today. So far Maui is the only one that likes to play in the litter box like it's his personal sand box :)
katiemae1277 21st November 2006, 04:05 PM Sarah, I'm using Tidy Cats multi-cat scoopable and Scoop Away right now, both are good odor controllers, about the same on tracking. Scoop Away clumps LIKE A ROCK, but it has a very strong perfumey smell and is a bit dusty, IMO, but the kitties don't seem to mind. Tidy Cat clumps well, but not quite as well as the Scoop Away, but is less dusty and no perfumey odor. I've seen a few rave reviews for Arm & Hammer on here, so if there's ever a good sale plus coupons I will try that, Fresh Step seems a bit pricey to me, but it might be ok for you as you probably don't have 10 litterboxes to fill :lol3:
Bella713 21st November 2006, 04:11 PM I used to use Scoop away but it's way too dusty, I could feel it in my lungs so what is it doing to my cats!!!!
I use Arm and Hammer now and they never had a problem switching over, and I like it too!http://www.getsmile.com/smilies/%5Ecad/cat8.gif

I'm going to phase out the Scoop Away as soon as I find another litter I like, due to the dust as well as that perfumey smell :nausea: does the A&H have a sandy consistency? The kitties seem to like that, the Tidy Cats is kinda like little tiny balls
trinettec 21st November 2006, 04:16 PM I have just finished a Litter Experiment and here is what I found. With 4 adults, 2 7 mo olds, and the seven fosters in the house I put Tidy Cats Crystals in 2 boxes, FreshStep clumping in 2 boxes and AH High Performance in 2 boxes. The kittens seem to prefer the FreshStep. The adults cats use the Crystals the most. But I dumped the A&H High Performance because the sawdust consistency just tracks everywhere, especially if you have a mad digger like our Annie. She would come out of the litter box just covered in litter. As for smell the Tidy Cats and FreshStep were about equal, the A&H did nothing for the smell.
I have one LitterMaid with FreshStep in it that is the all time fav of everyone in the house.
CommonOddity042 21st November 2006, 06:07 PM I use either Cheshire (cheap, hard-clumping grocery store brand) or Fresh Step/Arm and Hammer (The huge tubs of it if I go to Walmart, which isn't often. I can get them closer, but only in little $5 boxes, and the grocery store brand is far cheaper for the same effect. $6 for over twice the amount.).
littleraven7726 21st November 2006, 06:43 PM I'm going to phase out the Scoop Away as soon as I find another litter I like, due to the dust as well as that perfumey smell :nausea: does the A&H have a sandy consistency? arm & hammer is nice and sandy. clumps really well too. the guys and i prefer the unscented formula. lately we've been using arm & hammer and a grocery store unscented scoop. we did give target's store brand (pet essentials) a try, it gets several paws up because it's like the old tidy cats formula. very sandy, and clumps well. i just don't like the strong floral scent. it's alot like the old tidy cats in the blue tub.
i've heard, but haven't tried, fresh step's new carbon release formula is supposed to be alot less floral than it used to be.
JulieKit 21st November 2006, 06:57 PM Well Im glad im not the only one having problems!
I hadnt posted it on here because it seems like im always wanting to switch litters. But FP is also not working for us. We are going through way too much of that stuff. I mean I bought a bag thats supposed to be a 4 weeks supply and it lasted a week and a day!! Also, I cannot stand the smell when she poos and I hate scooping the poo because she hardly covers it.
Ive tried A&H but I could only find the scented kind and the smell made me gag. Im buying in bulk now, i'll probably try Tidy Cats next. I just want something that clumps and doesnt smell to high heaven!
Have you tried Cats Pride? It is very cheap but I have not been able to bring myself to try it because I dont know if it clumps?
ryanjay 21st November 2006, 07:28 PM have gone back and forth over the years(and depending on medical issues, prefereances of cats) right now im using fresh step scoop for all 22(including a 8 week kitten who has been using scoop since he started walking(guy who gave him to me said thats what hed been trained with-not my first choice but hes healthy enough:) i used worlds best it wasn't that bad except went stale very fast and i had a cat who due to health issues would try to eat it. feline pine never worked for mine just cause they never adjusted to it
Rang_27 21st November 2006, 07:55 PM I'm going to throw what I like to call my "advertisment" for cat attract out there. (Frankly with the number of times I've told people to use it I think they owe me some money) I love cat attract. Since I switched well over a year ago, I can't imagine using anything else. It's come down in price a little and is much easier to find than when I first started using it (maybe it's my advertisements :lol3: ) I used to use W.B the cats were fine with it, but it was a little on the dusty side for Jordan (He has very mild asthma). At the time I had 2 covered boxes & 1 uncovered. The uncovered got used once a day by Jordan (I'm sure he was just marking it). Well I switched that box to Cat Attract & they used it 6 or 7 times a day :bigthumb: So I took that as a hint an switched. I never had any issue with anyone going outside the box, they just seemed to prefer the cat attract. With 4 cats in 400 square feet I figure it can't hurt to use something formulated for cats who don't like the box. As far as I can tell it's got less dust & contains more smell than any other litter I have used. I scoope twice a day, but having 3 boxes in 400 square feet odor control is a huge issue for me. I did try the stuff for small spaces thinking it might track less. Well it didn't track any less and I had to dump the box in less than a week. With the Cat Attract I dump & scrub the box ever 2 weeks to once a month.
white cat lover 21st November 2006, 09:16 PM I also love cat attract, but when you've got 5 cats....$$$$$! :lol3: I also like Scoop Away, but it's dusty & odorous, Tidy Cats, but it doesn't blump so well, & I LOVE Arm & Hammer's New High Performance Natural Litter. It has a smell to it, but the kits & I still like it. The only problem for me is $. IT's rather $$$ as I can only get it in a grocery store.
catsallover 21st November 2006, 09:48 PM I use the clumping Tidy Cats Scoop Crystals Blend, and it seems to clump really well for me, even though I have one cat who wees in the front of the box, in the same place, and doesn't cover it :rolleyes2 - and my boxes don't get scooped everyday, as my cats are indoor/outdoor and don't use them every day. Needless to say, it also works really, really well on odor control!
I tried a flushable litter from WM in a new box I added in our bathroom for my eldest cat (don't remember what it was called, but it was scoopable and tan/brown in color) and it had a sickening sweet smell to it :nausea:, didn't control the odor well at all- which made for a really sick smell :nausea: :thud: - and I went back to the Tidy Cats Blend, and she is much happier with it too, apparently:lol3:
gizmocat 21st November 2006, 10:28 PM Nature's Miracle is the best--and we tried Feline Pine beforehand!
It's organic, it clumps beautifully, there is no smell, and it's reasonably priced. I just got some new bags of it on amazon.com
sharky 22nd November 2006, 02:55 AM I use the poor mans WB ... chicken egg layer crumble ...
SarahBeez 22nd November 2006, 03:40 AM For those of you that use Nature's Miracle- where do you get yours?
I tried to google it to find local dealers but didn't come up with much :dk: I think I may stop by our feed store this weekend or next time I get out of work early to check into the corn stuff :bigthumb:
Before the Feline Pine we were using the Scoopable Tidy Cats... the only reason I really switched was because we were going through a ton of it and I had heard some rave reviews about FP. If Tidy Cats sold the clumping litter in those big 20# (?) bags life would be perfect, but alas.... I can only find nonclumping and that stuff makes me nuts!
SchwarzeKatz 22nd November 2006, 03:52 AM For those of you that use Nature's Miracle- where do you get yours?
I don't use it and I don't know if this will help you but I've read that "Fresh Results" which you can find at Walmart is the same thing as "Nature's Miracle".
iamluckysmom 22nd November 2006, 06:19 AM If you have more than three cats, the smartest thing to do that I have heard is get a kiddie pool, fill it with sand. real sand and let it go at that.
Sand is cheap, it clumps and because the sides are so deep they don't track.
I still like Scoop Away very much, dollar for dollar and you could pick and choose til doomsday and still not find a perfect litter, it works for my kids.
crittermom 22nd November 2006, 06:24 AM I have 5 cats and use Fresh Step cat litter.I like it and so do the cats.I used a Wal-Mart cheapy and it was TERRIBLE!!!! It stunk so bad that you could smell it as soon as you walked in the door.
Fresh Step keeps the smell gone and I like how it clumps. It could be tighter, but it works good for us.

My Walmart sells it in a 27 lb bucket for around $11, and I get 2 (big) litterboxes out of each bucket. Sometimes I even have coupons for a $1 off! :) I don't know if this helps you or not, but thought I'd let you know;) . I tried the Feline Pine with my last foster kitten- ugh.

Yep, that's the one!!! It stunk and OMG for the smell when you walked in my house.:(
gizmocat 22nd November 2006, 12:38 PM As I mentioned before, Nature's Miracle is available on amazon.com
I may order direct from the manufacturer, since it is made in New York State.
I tried the other brand mentioned that uses corncob and had absolutely obscene results--yellow cat footprints everywhere. Stay with the good brands....
katiemae1277 22nd November 2006, 12:38 PM Tidy Cats scoopable is also on sale right now at Pets Supplies Plus for 7.99 for the 27lbs bucket, yes you did read that right, if I had the money I'd buy 10 buckets!!
gizmocat 22nd November 2006, 12:39 PM Tidy Cats is clay litter. I had violent coughing fits from the dust and Gizmo has asthma, so that litter went out into the recycler immediately.
katiemae1277 22nd November 2006, 02:06 PM Tidy Cats is clay litter. I had violent coughing fits from the dust and Gizmo has asthma, so that litter went out into the recycler immediately.
yes it is, but I was telling Sarah since she likes it but was having a hard time finding it in the large quantity and I know she has a PSP near her. luckily none of mine have asthma so I use clay litter without problems
ryanjay 22nd November 2006, 02:33 PM fresh step really is cheaper for multiple cats-with 22 cats i use less litter cause i dont have to sump the whole box as often. also joined their pawpoints pogram and buy litter in bulk(usually the 28 lb goes on sale for 9.59 at target) with paw points i redeem 90 points for 3 dollar coupons on the 14 lb box then wait for grocery store to do thier 25% off sale on the entire fresh step line. either way still sad to figure how much i spend on litter lol

Yeah I went and looked at it on Amazon after you mentioned it the first time but I'd like to buy it in person so I can read the bag and agonize over it :)
Tidy Cats scoopable is also on sale right now at Pets Supplies Plus for 7.99 for the 27lbs bucket, yes you did read that right, if I had the money I'd buy 10 buckets!!
Oooooh la la!! $7.99 is a much better deal! You are right- I do have a PSP near me too :) Maybe I'll stop by there on my way home tonight to check it out.... I may get some of the Fresh Step from Psmart just so I can give it a try and get some of the Tidy Cats that's on sale- then I'll return which ever I don't like- or maybe I can mix them!
By the way- I always bought it in the container, which I guess is 27#'s (which makes sense cuz that sucker is heavy & I hate carrying them into the house!) so what is in the bag? 40 lbs? I wish you could by the clumping in that size bag- it's so much cheaper!!!!
JulieKit 22nd November 2006, 03:53 PM Lol Im making a list of litters as you guys post. Im going to Walmart TONIGHT, I was going to wait until we ran out of FP but I cant take it anymore.
Im looking at Fresh Results, Tidy Cats (Scoopable) and Fresh Steps if its available in WM. I really want something that clumps good!
Does anyone know if Cats Pride Clumps? I mean their regular formula, because Walmart sells that in bulk.

The only person I've seen that uses the Cat's Pride in GoldenKitty45, maybe PM her to get her input?
They do have Fresh Step at Wally world  if want something that clumps REALLY good, Scoop Away is like a rock, but is dusty and has the stongest perfumey smell :dk: there's always a downside, huh?

Yeah, I couldn't believe it, its something like half off :shocker: the problem is that clumping is just more expensive then non-clumping :(

not when used as directed. regular clay litter is supposed to have the solids scooped out, and dumped completely once a week or more. my mom used clay litter, and only changed the box once a month for years. the smell in her basement was horrendous. with scooping litter you scoop out the solids and the pee clumps, and only have to dump the box every 2-4 weeks (depending on which litter you use).
if you want cheap clumping litter, and dump every 2-3 weeks. check the grocery store. i've been using the grocery store unscented scoop with good luck. it does need to be changed every 2-3 weeks. but you can't argue with $2.50 for 15 lbs. with 3 boxes changed 2x a month, i spend $15 on litter a month.

Makin' an unexpected trip to PSP! Gonna get my manufacturer coupons together! Woohoo! Thanks!:bigthumb:
gizmocat 23rd November 2006, 01:25 PM Please be aware that clay litter has silica dust in it that is bad for you and bad for the cat, whether or not you have asthma. Silicosis is also called 'miner's lung'.
I could not take the dust in any of the clay litters I tried and am pleased to use an inoffensive organic one. sometimes the true cost of a substance is only apparent years later.
Russian Blue 23rd November 2006, 04:40 PM In the past I have tried:
Crystal Litter, Worlds Best and Swheat Scoop
Nakita had a reaction to the crystal litter, Worlds Best was too dusty (and expensive) and Swheat Scoop didnt clump well.
We recently purchased Nature's Miracle Clumping Litter. We've used it (at least Nakita has used it  )for two weeks and it works well for our house. We only have one cat so not sure if it would work as well in multi-cat households.
Pros
- clumps well, no odour & NO DUST!:bigthumb:
- very soft litter for cat paws! ;)
Cons
- the litter is very light so it easily tracks and can get thrown around in the litter box (therefore I recommend a covered litter box or one with very high sides)
- strong smell of pine when first poured but slowly goes away after a couple of hours

reddicequeen 23rd November 2006, 05:50 PM I use Feline Pine . It lasts quite a long time, however, I also use the Feline Pine litter box. I had the same problem of going through it really fast, but it is a whole system. The box has a screened bottom, when the cats go, it turns to sawdust and drops below, when they poo, they can bury it, and you just scoop it out with a special scoop. I even made an extra large box by buying two storage bins, i'm thinking 21 qt, and poking holes into with a hot glue gun point, then putting those little pizza things to had more support.
I have tried EVERY litter. I can't handle the dust, the cats sound wheezy with most of them, and they track the crystals. (Black ceramic floors):)
I Still think Feline is by far the best IF you use the proper litter box.
reddicequeen 23rd November 2006, 05:52 PM AND it never smells in my house....
gizmocat 23rd November 2006, 07:33 PM It's curious, I never notice the pine smell for long when I use Nature's Miracle; to me it smells a bit citrusy. And the smell does not last long. But then, I don't have a particularly good sense of smell (must be that little cat who keeps biting my nose)
Others notice that the house never smells of cat, in fact you'd never know I owned one until Gizmo came out to talk to you.
Candlemaven 25th November 2006, 05:59 AM I'll throw in my vote for Worlds Best. It was the litter my babies were using when I got them, and have never switched (3+ years later). :bigthumb:
felinelover 27th November 2006, 03:02 AM Been using World's Best Cat Litter for the longest time. Love the way it clumps. Have the littler box next to the toilet, so it's gets flushed away as soon as I hear the cats were in the box.
My only complaint about it is the AWFUL dust, so I just tried Papurr. That doesn't nearly clump well enough to scoop it up and flush away. So I hate it !
The World's Best would be best, if they sifted the dust out. I sat one day in my backyard with a strainer and sifted 17 pounds of it and now it works perfect. Plan on writing to World's Best, why can't they do that by machine? The sifted stuff works great, without dusting up the house and having little white cat-feet prints all over the place. It is expensive enough, that you could expect to buy it without all that horrible dust.
So I am still looking too: It has to be clumpable, flushable & dustfree. One of my cats ( the Bam) has feline asthma and I absolutely have to use dustfree, but for my sake it also has to be clumpable & flushable.
Am I asking for too much?

JulieKit 27th November 2006, 01:41 PM Ive been using Scoop Away for a few days now, and so far no complaints. Its actuaolly more expensive than A&H but I wasnt about to go back to that since they did not have the unscented version at our Walmart.
Scoop Away clumps really well, and even though I got the 'Fresh Scent' variety, it doesnt smell. When you put it in the box it smells sort of like baby powder, but the smell quickly goes away.

i don't know if you have a target store nearby, but target carries the unscented A&H. i've also seen it at petsmart recently (but i know our petsmart hasn't carried it that long).
SarahBeez 27th November 2006, 07:12 PM Well after spending $100 on cat food and litter we ended up with 3 containers of the Tidy Cat Scoopable (blue lid- whatever that means!) and 2 boxes of the Fresh Step.... That was on Friday and I don't have any complaints yet!
I mixed them- probably about 70/30 Tidy Cats/Fresh Step. I did notice the Fresh Step was pretty perfume-y but it didn't bother me, especially when mixed with the Tidy Cat.
I liked the texture of the two litters together- it feels nice to finally be able to scoop poo out of the box and not have to jiggle it all around to get the darn pine pellets off! I love sifting! :lol3:
white cat lover 27th November 2006, 09:17 PM I know I've mixed two litters before & found out I really liked them.
If you look at all the Tidy Cats pails, they are different "formulas". I know one is long lasting odor control...I think they are blue, red, & green. Silly me, I bought a red & a green one the other day because I was in a Christmas-y mood! :lol3:

We used to get red but they only had blue :dk: I've never been good at paying attention to the differences between "formulas" - I say 'same brand, same product' although that very well may be wrong! At least you had fun with it- sounds like something I would've done if I had the option!
canaws 28th November 2006, 06:23 AM I use Feline Pine . It lasts quite a long time, however, I also use the Feline Pine litter box. I had the same problem of going through it really fast, but it is a whole system.
The same is true for me. The liter was going way fast and the sawdust was getting on my (long hair) cat's fur. I was going to try and switch to another litter, but I decided to try out their litter box and scoop first because I liked the fact that the pellets didn't track and it wasn't overly perfumed (like Fresh Step).
Once, I got the box and scoop...:bigthumb:. I bought one large bag (20lbs.) of Feline Pine from Petco for $12 and it lasted for months. There's no sand all over the floor, no clumps of litter stuck to my cat's paws, and no perfumed cat litter smell.
ScamperFarms 28th November 2006, 11:20 AM we use wood stove pellets here, cheaper than feline pine, same thing..40lbs for 4.49 at the fleet farm.
may look into getting some crumble for the kittens though...they may prefer that on their little paws.
Flamingo13 29th November 2006, 02:38 AM Just my 2cents worth - I use Tidy Cat (scoopable) for the newest addition: former feral. Previously I used clay litter, this was a long-haired cat and she tracked "sand" everywhere - but the clay worked fine. Newest addition is a short hair and she has had no problems w/scoopable (except for digging to China and making a mess outside box) but nothing gets stuck between toes, to her butt (which was an issue w/the long-haired)... I've used Fresh Step once (coupon and sale) and did like it, but Tidy Cat USED to have coupons more often.

I like cheaper :smile2:. It works the same as Feline Pine? I'll see if I can find any around here and give them a try.
MissintheSouth 30th November 2006, 09:49 PM Does anyone else's cat track the actual pine pellets out of the box?
I have been using FP for about a month and have been happy with the odor control and with one cat we don't go through it all that fast. I have, however, noticed that it is not so easy to scoop after Carl's month of antibiotic. His stool is getting softer from the antibiotics and it is nasty to clean! :nausea:
But, I find those little pellets all over my apartment! I end up Dust Busting everyday and I feel kind of embarrassed when we have people over and there is litter on the carpet...anyone else have that problem?

I know this isn't what you asked, but have you tried giving him some yogurt?
mzjazz2u 1st December 2006, 02:40 AM I use Fresh step scoopable and wouldn't use anything else. I have 3 cats in a 1 bedroom condo and you can't tell (or smell).
felinelover 1st December 2006, 01:24 PM HI,
Been using Worlds Best, expensive, but clumps well and flushes safely. The only MAJOR problem is all the dust. It is disgusting! It is making me cough and I can only imagine what it does to my cats, one of which has feline asthma.
I have stood in my yard and sifted 17 lb bag of the stuff. Cleaned all the dust out of my house and tried again. Wonderfull ! Now if we could only get Worlds Best Cat Litter to bag & sell the stuff without the dust ! I have written to them, but have not gotten any response. I am sure if anybody else uses it, that they have the same problem. If you all wrote to the company, maybe it would help? It truly would be the best, if they sifted the dust out, but I guess dust adds to the weight of the bag, and that means more money for them.
I will not again do this by hand with my household sifter (too much work) and will be looking for a different litter that clumps and is flushable and dust free.
Thanks for listening and please help with emailing them.......Karin

I have been using World's Best for about a year now, and it doesn't seem dusty to me.
Rang_27 1st December 2006, 07:39 PM I used to use W.B. & the excessive dust is part of why I tried Cat Attrakt. My Jordan has very mild Asthma & I was worried about him. The C.A. still has dust, but in my experience it's a lot less than W.B.
gizmocat 1st December 2006, 11:23 PM My cat has asthma and I find that the Nature's Miracle was the answer--no dust, mild smell, some tracking (but at least it stays in the bathroom) and it clumps like a charm.

Well, my cat is a bit enthusiastic about digger and cleaning her paws when she uses the litter, so I get some pellets on the floor near the box. I just throw them back in the box or sweep them up. Way better than trying to clean up sand (I used Fresh Step before).
My litter box is in the laundry room though, so I don't really have to worry about being too embarrassed.
Pippy-pops 7th December 2006, 12:51 PM I swear by Catsan (normal or clumping). Pippin used to be an outdoor kitty until August and hated his litter box (which sat at the door, unused for about a year) so when we moved and he became an indoor kitty, it was necessity that we found the right litter (as it was my partner was not best pleased I was going to keep him indoors!). We tried many brands, all of which I was happy with for tracking and lastability but odour control was terrible! Pippin also hated even getting in his box - you could see the disgust on his face every time he was busting for "ablutions". I then asked on here and the only brand that I could source (as I am in the UK and have very limited funds) was CATSAN. I LOVE it. It doesn't track right through my flat, it leaves no chemical smell nor does it leave the tell-tale smell of cat pee/poo, the absorbtion quality is brilliant and I only need to completely change it every 2 weeks or so! If it does start to "wiff" a bit I also keep a can of baking soda opened and sprinkle alittle bit onto the litter every so often.
The only problem I have now is trying to keep a little black kitty off a white bedspread - hoovering the bed everyday is getting alittle boring. We tried a black throw in the place he sleeps but then he changed his spot and lay somewhere else... I don't mind of course because he is the "king" of the house but it's the little black hairs sticking up my nose in the middle of the night that really get to me now! Hahaha!
gailuvscats 9th December 2006, 03:29 PM I use the chicken crumbles. It is great for price, smell, and clumping. I can't stand those scented dusty litters. I did use worlds best and swheat and liked them both, but they are waayy too expensive. I think my one cat is not crazy about the crumbles, and prefers the swheat, but as I said it is too costly. I don't see why the organic types are so expensive. I think these manufacturers are just like the gas companies. they just gouge the consumer as much as they can.:onfire: supply and demand. I guess if they can get away with the price, why not? For now I will stick to the crumbles until I can find a natural litter that I don't think is ridiculously overpriced.
