Why You Should Always ID Your Pets
On a previous blog post, earlier this month, I discussed the elements of responsible cat care. The second item on the general care list was "Make sure your cat has proper identification."
I'd like to share with you a rather heart-warming story of how the life of a black Scottish Moggie where saved this week, thanks to micro-chipping.
Sid lived with his owners, Maxine and Allan Mullen, in the county of Lanarkshire in the heart of Scotland. Three years ago, this black cat wandered outside the house and went missing. Maxine and Allan couldn't find him anywhere and as the days went by, turning into weeks, months and years, they gave up on ever seeing Sid again. Last year, they moved to Devon, in the south of England, leaving behind their Scotland home and, so they thought, any hope of ever seeing Sid again.
Fortunately, Sid was micro-chipped. When he turned up at the SPCA rescue center in Lanarkshire, his chip was detected and the Mullens were contacted. They have been re-united with their beloved Sid three years after he's gone missing! Who knows what Sid went through during these three years. At least some of it was nasty enough to leave him with facial injuries. At least he truly is back home now, recovering in the arms of his loving owners.
