Biography:
Shelly is our comic and our "Ambassador" kitty. He is SUCH a good big brother to all our kitties and all our fosters. He loves to play, is a complete goof ball and LOVES to be brushed! But he's also my snuggle bug, and cuddles up under my arm with his head in my hand to sleep almost every night.

Arrival Story:
We got involved with cats for the first time in a meaningful way when a litter of kittens turned up in our yard. They were living in an abandoned groundhog hole with their feral mom. We started feeding them, and the first to warm up to us were Sheldon (Shelly) and Lazlo (though at the time they were "Black Legs" (Shelly) and "The Grey Kitty" (Lazlo).
The mom took them on an excursion - and left Lazlo behind. So we took him in. We didn't know it was just an excursion and that the family would be coming back after just a few days.
At the time, we spent a fair amount of time in NYC for work, and we were worried about Lazlo being lonely. So when the family came back, we decided to bring in one of his siblings to keep him company. When feeding the kitties, Gary reached down and picked up Shelly to bring him inside. Gary had never picked him up before, and he didn't struggle at all - like he'd been waiting for it.
We lived in an RV back then. Gary handed me Shelly through the door. Shel looked up at me - and FREAKED. I guess he realized where he was. He JUMPED out of my arms - ran to the front, ran to the back - and Lazlo, instead of being happy to see his brother - saw a moving target and went for it.
We had to leave for the airport, and weren't sure what to do. We decided they wouldn't kill each other, so we went. When we came back several hours later, we searched the entire RV and couldn't find either kitty. We started to freak - did they find some way out? I looked in the last place - the crate. And there they were, a tangle of grey tabby and tuxedo baby. Warm, snuggly and content.
We were a textbook for doing everything completely wrong. But we had so many questions - it was then that I went searching, and found TCS. :-)
