In Case You Missed It

Written by Anne Moss

I was reading the book Millions of Cats to my kids the other day, and while it can hardly be recommended as promoting good cat care, I did find it easy to relate to the Very Old Man in the story.

In the story, the man sets out to look for a cat so that he and his wife won't be lonely anymore. He reaches a hill where he finds "hundreds of cats, thousands of cats, millions and billions and trillions of cats," and tries to choose just one cat. The problem is, they are all very pretty and he ends up taking them all and walking back home with trillions of cats.

Sounds familiar? Ok, so not trillions of cats, but I'm sure you know how difficult it is to keep it down to just one cat.

If you're considering adding another feline member to your family, I urge you to read this month's addition to our cat care articles: The Other Cat. It guides you through the various considerations that will, hopefully, help you find the ideal partner for your resident feline.

Yes, It is very hard to pick another pet! My older cat recently passed on and my other cat (Cloie) was lonely. So, we made the decision to adopt a playmate. How do you chose the right one? I believe you have to take a chance! We brought Maddy home and introduced her to Cloie. Not all at once. Gave them a little time together and then separated them. Cloie was not a happy cat! But, it takes time! In a couple of days, Cloie started to warm up. Today, they are best friends!
I have been very fortunate with my two cats. They are both males and are very friendly to every cat that comes in the house. Actually probably over friendly, as they let other people's cats pick on them. My daughter moved back home with her male cat, Rasta, and all three of them get along quite well. I guess I just happen to be lucky.
It's really hard. I have a friend that started to put the house cats. And right now she is about 20 cats, it's a lot. In short, add more, maybe it's good, but must also know when to stop:) jo - hydroponicsfuture

Yes I exactly know what your talking about. When going in to get a cat it is soooo hard to just get one. You see them and just want to get them all!
We took two cats, in fact they are brothers. Now i think it was better idea than taking one and another after a year or something. .-= Julia´s last blog ..Tramadol for dogs side effects after i used it =-.

The only girl in our house passes in May, and I tried very hard to accept life with my 5 boys. Then , in a moment of weakeness went to Petfinders.com and the rest was history. I knew the new addition to the family would be a girl. A little Calico stole my heart. She is Emma and 6 month old . Her brothers tolerate her nonsense and she is very pushy !!!! LOL I sure do love her to pieces !! .-= Mimi Pipino´s last undefined ..CommentLuv Premium is here!Offer expires on 4th October 2011 Go to CommentLuv.com to downloadThe version of CommentLuv on this site is no longer supported! it will stop working very soon!
