Herding Cats ... at Home by Wendy Christensen
Living with cats is a joy -- and a challenge! Intelligent, active, curious, ever-questing, and still just "a whisker from the wild," cats bring us a fascinating taste of wildness, right in our own homes. Our feline friends are endlessly endearing and precious, but sometimes their behavior can seem inexplicable, maddening, frustrating -- or even downright scary.
Even a solitary cat can pose puzzles. But each additional feline who joins your clowder (the term for a group of cats) multiplies the possbilities -- for joys, and for challenges. Ever hear the phrase "It's like herding cats?" It's often used to describe an impossible (or nearly impossible) task. If you live with cats, you know they can't -- won't! -- be herded. But they can, sometimes, be persuaded! It's just a matter of thinking like a cat -- figuring out what's important to your cats, and why.
What kinds of challenges are you encountering with YOUR cat (or cats)? If it's a sudden or radical change in ANY kind of behavior (eating, drinking, litter box use, grooming, daily habits), don't wait a second! Schedule an appointement with your veterinarian. Your cat's life could be at stake.
Has your cat been given a clean bill of health? Great! But if all is still not well in your feline family, email me: wendy@herdingcatsathome.com. I can't promise to answer every question individually, but I can help you puzzle out some of the clues to understanding your kitty's mind.
I look forward to hearing from you.
