    The 2024 Gardening Thread

Hey I actually transplanted two five foot burning bushes in late July heat from the north side of my house to the south side. They are now over ten feet tall. The birds love them and they turn that bright red in the fall which being on the northside did not change color.I will have to look up...

    By-products and meal!

I am quite aware of cat food issues, one almost killed my first cat. That is still with me. I never by a product from that company ever and that is my choice. The FDA and AAFCO took forty years to get that ingredient out of pet food. The wheels move very slowly. Some folks here can tell you I am...

How to get rid of rats in the barn

Rats often are not the size that you see on tv that are pet size. Here some are as big as cats. The best thing is to not attract them into a space keeping bird food and other animal feeds secured into heavy metal containers. Checking for gaps that give them access or checking for areas that were...

Question of the Day, Sunday, June 2nd

Yes. It was mandatory for us growing up. We had to be able to swim a certain distance well ( and consistently) before we were allow to not always be wearing a life jacket all day. I always loved water but was respectful of it. Don't get the opportunity to swim much these days unfortunately.

    By-products and meal!

These are not new events. They happen often not only in the pet food industry but in the human food chain as well. There were two reports fairly recently on big pet food rendering facilities for both carbohydrates and meats that were pretty disturbing. There was also reports on human bakeries...

    Wet food portion

As @Alldara mentioned above watch body condition. Alldara posted chart above and it is also available in other posts on TCS. Calories intake has many variables and can vary greatly from cat to cat. I find watching body condition and weighing them to be the best indicators of how many kcals they...

Featured Can my pregnancy be affecting my kitty?

Mine definitely sensed changes. Your preparing a nursery and they are always alert for that. Our cat was older as well when our first was born. I would recommend allowing your kitty to be included in what ever is going on with the baby and not isolated from the baby. That way you can monitor...

    What is your dream cat?

My avatar boy looked a lot like a Russian Blue and had traits of a Chartreux and Russian Blue. So I'd say Russian Blue, but I have always adopted and I do not see that ever changing.

Cat with possible IBD getting too thin, how can I help him gain some weight back?

I had gotten rid of all gums except agar agar. Plus brewers yeast, peas, potatoes and a couple others. A veterinary nutritionist that a family member knows suggested dropping the agar agar and that did the job. She believes there is a connection between IBD and all these gums, but no studies on...

No ringworm does not go away on its own. Ringworm will spread to other animals and people as well.So I would seek treatment immediately.
